The Texas Digital Library is pleased to announce two training opportunities on DSpace and Vireo this coming fall.
The TDL will hold introductory DSpace training on September 4 at the University of Houston Clear Lake campus in Houston, Texas. Introductory Vireo training will be held on September 16 on the UT Austin campus.
The TDL welcomes faculty and staff from all TDL member institutions to register for the courses, which are offered free of charge. Details are below.
Introduction to DSpace
September 4, 2014 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM | University of Houston Clear Lake
This course provides beginner-level DSpace users with an overview of the use and management of DSpace repositories. Students will gain hands-on experience with DSpace and the use of the DSpace administrative interface.
Topics covered in this course include: creating communities and collections in DSpace; ingesting items using the repository workflow; adjusting access options for users and items in DSpace; and editing items in DSpace.

ETD Management with Vireo
September 16, 2014 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM | University of Texas at Austin
In this course, students receive an overview of Vireo, the system created by the Texas Digital Library for handling the online submission and management of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs). Students will gain hands-on experience using Vireo to shepherd a thesis or dissertation through the entire ETD workflow, from submission to publication.
