SUMMARY:October Research Integrity Working Group Meeting
DESCRIPTION:TEXAS DIGITAL LIBRARY RESEARCH INTEGRITY WORKING GROUP\nThursday\, October 27\, 2022\n2-3pm Central\nJoin us on Zoom\nDownload a calendar invitation (.ics)\n\nTDL’s Research Integrity Working Group welcomes Heather Coates\, Digital Scholarship & Data Management Librarian and University Data Steward for Research Data at Indiana University\, as a guest speaker:\n\nWhat does open access have to do with research integrity? Join the TDL Research Integrity Working Group for a conversation with Heather Coates\, Digital Scholarship & Data Management Librarian at the IUPUI University\, on 27 October 2022 at 2 PM Central.  There is no charge to attend – and you don’t even have to register. \nOpen Access Is Necessary But Not Sufficient To Ensure Research Integrity \nThis interactive session will explore the central role of open access to publications\, data\, instruments\, protocols\, code and/or scripts in fostering a culture of research integrity and public trust in research. Through discussion of contemporary investigations into misconduct\, we will consider the interconnectedness of good data practices and open access with principles of research integrity. In particular\, we will discuss concrete practices related to project management\, data management\, and training that enable validation\, foster a culture of research integrity\, and support greater openness in the conduct of research and dissemination of research outputs. \nHeather Coates is the Digital Scholarship and Data Management Librarian at the Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) University Library Center for Digital Scholarship. As an open research advocate\, she cares deeply about the integrity\, accessibility\, and sustainability of the scholarly record as a public good. She is dedicated to promoting more equitable research evaluation practices in higher education. You can find her scholarship in ORCID: 0000-0003-4290-6997 and Google Scholar. \n\nJoin TDL’s Research Integrity Working Group by subscribing to our listserv tdl-research-integrity@utlists.utexas.edu and signing up for our newsletters. You can also contact TDL at info@tdl.org with any questions or suggestions.\n\nWe hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:August Research Integrity Working Group Meeting
DESCRIPTION:TEXAS DIGITAL LIBRARY RESEARCH INTEGRITY WORKING GROUP\nThursday\, August 25\, 2022\n2-3pm Central\nJoin us on Zoom\n\nPlay the Dilemma Game: Professionalism and Integrity in Research\, created by a team at Eramus University (Rotterdam) to explore difficult choices frequently encountered by faculty and student researchers – and by those who support them. \nIn breakout groups\, you’ll first imagine yourself as researcher confronting a dilemma.  Then you’ll consider how you can use game scenarios as instructional tools. Although the game is available as an app\, we’re using the off-line version so an Internet connection and a headset are the only technology you need to participate. \nCome to share your own ideas and experience!  Come to discover new techniques for teaching research integrity. Come to have fun! \nFacilitated by Melody Herr\, PhD\, Scholarly Communications Librarian at the University of Arkansas.
