SUMMARY:Texas Data Repository: A Year in Review [webinar]
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Texas Data Repository (TDR) is a consortial data repository using the Dataverse platform. In this presentation we discuss ongoing efforts to develop the TDR as a shared service. The presenters include TDR liaisons from participating institutions. We reflect on the past year of using the TDR and speak from diverse perspectives:  the experience of small and large institutions; institutions with varying capacity to provide data services; and institutions implementing different outreach strategies\, policies and workflows. DESCRIPTION:The final DigiPres Webinar in our series is Friday\, November 17 at 2pm CST with a presentation about the Digital Preservation Network and live Q&A by DPN Executive Director Mary Molinaro. \nMary Molinaro serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Service Manager for DPN. Her work and research interests include digital preservation\, personal digital archiving\, and digital library development. She serves as an instructor and is on the Steering Committee for the Digital Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE) program at the Library of Congress. Mary has great interest in supporting library infrastructure and planning in developing nations. She has done extensive work with libraries in Ecuador and served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Tunisia. \nDigital Preservation Network LLC (DPN) is a non-profit organization and community of international leaders in research\, academia\, industry\, and government who collaborate on the adoption of innovative technologies. SUMMARY:Launching the Texas Data Repository: How to Implement TDR at Your Institution
DESCRIPTION:Presenters: \n\nKristi Park\, Executive Director\, Texas Digital Library\nSanti Thompson\, Head of Digital Repository Services\, University of Houston Libraries\n\nThe Texas Data Repository (TDR)\, a new service offered by the Texas Digital Library\, is a platform for publishing and archiving datasets and other data products created by faculty\, staff\, and students at Texas higher education institutions. The repository\, which is built in the open source application Dataverse\, will enable TDL member libraries to provide research data management services to their campus communities that will: enable compliance with federal mandates for data archiving and sharing\, increase the scholarly impact of datasets through assignment of persistent online identifiers and citations\, and facilitate limited sharing within research groups\, data versioning\, and long-term preservation. \nIn this webinar\, Kristi Park (Director of the TDL) and Santi Thompson (Head of Digital Repository Services at the University of Houston Libraries and chair of the TDL Dataverse Implementation Working Group) will give an overview of the repository service\, requirements for TDL member participation\, and plans for the future of the service. \nWatch Recording \nPresentation Slides

DPN provides members of the academy and their successors with assurance that future access to their scholarly resources will be available in the event of disruptive change in administrative or physical institutional environments. Ruttenberg and Hudson-Vitale will cover the what\, why\, and how of SHARE as an open source and higher education effort to build a free\, open data set of research and scholarly activity across the life cycle. SHARE is addressing institutions’ need for data about their own activities\, and libraries’s mission to collect\, provide access\, and preserve those activities.
