SUMMARY:QGIS Webinar Series #1: 3D Modeling of Library Spaces Using QGIS
DESCRIPTION:QGIS Webinar Series \nJoin the GIS Interest Group for the summer 2023 QGIS webinar series. QGIS is open-source and free GIS software available on Mac\, Windows\, and Linux from here: https://qgis.org/. Absolutely no prior GIS experience is required to fully participate in these webinars. \nWebinar #1: 3D Modeling of Library Spaces Using QGIS \nPresenters: Michael Shensky (UT Austin) and Katherine Strickland (UT Austin) \nIn spring 2023 the UT Libraries worked with students in the UT Austin Master of Science in Information Technology and Management program on a  project to create a 3D interactive model of the Perry-Castaneda Library (PCL) Map Room that could be deployed as a web app. This project resulted in the successful development of a new web app that was created using open source software and which will allow patrons to locate maps when visiting the PCL Map Room in-person and explore the collection virtually. This webinar will provide an overview of this web app’s development and show how others can use open source tools like QGIS for creating similar interactive 3D models of library spaces. \nRegistration: Register is required for this meeting:\nhttps://utexas.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYqf-CprjkpHtYAgZnAH-P2mXOFbCuIxwjH \nSee QGIS Webinar Series #2 here.

SUMMARY:Texas Conference on Digital Libraries 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Conference on Digital Libraries is a gathering place for the Texas library and archives community to share and learn about research\, practice\, and advocacy in digital libraries and digital archives. The conference provides opportunities for faculty\, students\, researchers\, librarians\, administrators\, policymakers\, advocates\, and others to share expertise and network through various types of presentations\, panels\, workshops\, and informal discussions. \nAfter three years in the virtual space\, the Texas Conferences on Digital Libraries will be held in-person\, and we could not be more excited to welcome you back to Austin. Hi… How are you? As we reunite face-to-face\, we’ll pause to reflect on all that has changed\, especially ourselves and our workplaces\, and forge a path forward together. \nOur work centers on increasing equitable access to digital materials\, valuing the individual\, celebrating differences\, eliminating barriers\, and providing space everyone can fully participate in. Let’s share how we work at work\, how we work together\, and how we work through challenges old and new. \nSo\, hi. How are you… really? We can’t wait to find out at TCDL.
