This presentation identifies many different ways that bias can enter into the promotion and tenure review process\, whether it’s bias from external review letters\, student evaluations of teaching\, or metrics used to evaluate scholarly productivity.   This presentation shares insights from an ADVANCE workshop on promotion and tenure\, as well as a collaborate NSF research project on bias in the promotion and tenure review process. \nGuest Speaker:  Dr. Cynthia Werner is the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences & former Director of ADVANCE\, Texas A & M University. Join the TDL Research Integrity Working Group for a conversation with Heather Coates\, Digital Scholarship & Data Management Librarian at the IUPUI University\, on 27 October 2022 at 2 PM Central.  There is no charge to attend – and you don’t even have to register. \nOpen Access Is Necessary But Not Sufficient To Ensure Research Integrity \nThis interactive session will explore the central role of open access to publications\, data\, instruments\, protocols\, code and/or scripts in fostering a culture of research integrity and public trust in research. Through discussion of contemporary investigations into misconduct\, we will consider the interconnectedness of good data practices and open access with principles of research integrity. In particular\, we will discuss concrete practices related to project management\, data management\, and training that enable validation\, foster a culture of research integrity\, and support greater openness in the conduct of research and dissemination of research outputs. \nHeather Coates is the Digital Scholarship and Data Management Librarian at the Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) University Library Center for Digital Scholarship.
