DESCRIPTION:The 2nd DigiPres Webinar in our series is about DuraCloud on Friday\, October 6 at 3pm CST with a presentation and live Q&A by DuraSpace’s Heather Greer Klein. \nHeather is the hosted services customer specialist with DuraSpace and manages the lead to sale process of DuraSpace hosted services (DuraCloud\, DSpaceDirect\, ArchivesDirect) including customer service\, product pricing\, new account set up\, onboarding\, and training. \nDuraSpace is a non-profit organization providing technical leadership\, sustainability planning\, fundraising\, community development\, marketing and communications\, collaborations and strategic partnerships and administration to the DSpace\, Fedora and VIVO projects. \nDuraCloud from DuraSpace is an easy\, cost effective\, and open source way to archive\, share\, and manage content in the cloud. With one click multiple copies are created in the cloud in different locations with several providers all while ensuring the health of the content through DuraCloud’s automated content health checking services. \nThe DuraCloud@TDL is hosted by the Texas Digital Library and is the only instance of DuraCloud outside of DuraSpace. DuraCloud@TDL is the gateway to all of the digital preservation storage options that TDL provides for its members. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join experienced trainers and Fedora gurus at Fedora Camp\, co-hosted by University of Texas Libraries and the Texas Digital Library\, to be held October 16 – 18 at the Perry-Castaneda Library in Austin\, Texas. \nFedora is the robust\, modular\, open source repository platform for the management and dissemination of digital content. Fedora 4\, the latest production version of Fedora\, features vast improvements in scalability\, linked data capabilities\, research data support\, modularity\, ease of use and more. Fedora Camp offers everyone a chance to dive in and learn all about Fedora. \nTraining will begin with the basics and build toward more advanced concepts-no prior Fedora experience is required. Participants can expect to come away with a deep dive Fedora learning experience coupled with multiple opportunities for applying hands-on techniques. \nPrevious Fedora Camps include the inaugural camp held at Duke University\, the West Coast camp at Caltech\, and the most recent\, NYC camp held at Columbia University. \nBetsy Coles\, Caltech Library Services and Fedora Camp attendee\, said\, “The material covered was comprehensive\, which I needed. It was also pitched at an appropriate level for me. I was able to keep up with the hands-on exercises without becoming completely bufuddled. I thought the organization of the material and the hands-on exercises were very well done. I also appreciated the chance to interact with others with both similar and different interests.” \nThe camp curriculum provides a comprehensive overview of Fedora 4 by exploring such topics as: \n\nCore and integrated features\nData modeling and linked data\nHydra and Islandora\nMigrating to Fedora 4\nDeploying Fedora 4 in production\nPreservation services\n\nA knowledgeable team of instructors from the Fedora community will lead you through the curriculum: David Wilcox – Fedora Product Manager; Andrew Woods – Fedora Technical Lead; Bethany Seeger – Amherst College; Aaron Birkland – Johns Hopkins University; Mike Durbin – University of Virginia. \nMore Information\nDETAILED AGENDA \nAttendance is limited to the first 40 registrants. Participants may choose to attend the entire camp or just one day. \nRegistration\nPlease note that TDL Members may select the “Member Rate” when completing payment to receive the member discount.
