SUMMARY:February Open Access Interest Group
DESCRIPTION:The TDL Open Access Interest Group provides a community for exploring topics related to Open Access broadly interpreted to encompass the traditional definition of Open Access (free\, online access to research outputs using open licenses) and the ways that the principles of OA intersect with other flavors of “open” (e.g. Open Science\, Open Research\, or Open Education). \nThe goal of the group is to create opportunities for learning and discussion on Open Access topics\, and identify areas for collective action to advance Open Access. As a consortium providing a shared infrastructure enabling Open Access\, the aims of this group are core to the mission of the Texas Digital Library. \nThe Open Access Interest Group meets every first Wednesday of the month from 2-3 PM CST. \nParticipation is open to all. \nThe group will share announcements and updates through the email listserv tdl-open-access@utlists.utexas.edu. Subscribe to the Open Access listserv here.

DESCRIPTION:Hosted by TDL and the Web Archiving Texas Interest Group\, staff from Webrecorder will provide a hands-on workshop where attendees can gain experience archiving content from the Web using Browsertrix. Offered as a cloud-hosted service (possible to run self-hosted)\, Browsertrix facilitates crawling dynamic content\, embedded media\, and sites requiring login with features including crawl scheduling\, automated quality assurance\, and custom browser behaviors. For those more experienced with command-line tools\, Browsertrix Crawler\, its crawling component\, can be run independently at the command-line. \nPlease join us to learn how Browsertrix might support your library’s high-fidelity web archiving needs. No previous web archiving experience necessary! \nRegistration is required.
