SUMMARY:September Open Access Interest Group
DESCRIPTION:The TDL Open Access Interest Group provides a community for exploring topics related to Open Access broadly interpreted to encompass the traditional definition of Open Access (free\, online access to research outputs using open licenses) and the ways that the principles of OA intersect with other flavors of “open” (e.g. Open Science\, Open Research\, or Open Education). \nThe goal of the group is to create opportunities for learning and discussion on Open Access topics\, and identify areas for collective action to advance Open Access. As a consortium providing a shared infrastructure enabling Open Access\, the aims of this group are core to the mission of the Texas Digital Library. \nThe Open Access Interest Group meets every third Wednesday of the month from 3-4 PM CST. \nParticipation is open to all. \nThe group will share announcements and updates through the email listserv tdl-open-access@utlists.utexas.edu. Subscribe to the Open Access listserv here.

SUMMARY:Navigating Uncertainty Together: A Digital POWRR Reflection Workshop for Digital Preservation Practice
DESCRIPTION:Digital preservation work increasingly takes place under conditions of uncertainty: shifting funding landscapes\, evolving systems\, unclear authority\, and emotional strain. While technical assessment frameworks help institutions evaluate infrastructure and workflows\, they rarely address the human experience of stewardship work—confidence\, safety\, belonging\, and sustainability. \nThis interactive workshop introduces and applies Navigating Uncertainty\, a human-centered reflection and assessment framework developed by the Digital POWRR team through the Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program. Participants will actively complete the framework for their own professional context and engage in structured peer dialogue using guided reflection prompts. \nRather than producing a formal assessment outcome\, the workshop emphasizes learning through reflection and conversation. Participants are invited to surface insights\, clarify next steps\, and reconnect with a sense of agency and community\, highlighting how shared understanding and connection can be sources of joy even amid uncertainty. \nParticipation Format: This workshop includes breakout room discussions. \nRecording: The presentation portion of this workshop will be recorded. \nSupplemental Resource: Participants are encouraged to review the Navigating Uncertainty: A Human-Centered Assessment Compass for Digital Preservation Practitioners resource before the workshop. Download the PDF. \n\nDate: September 25\, 2026\nTime: 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Central Time\nPresenter: Stacey Jones\, Digital Preservation Librarian\, University of Arizona\n\nRegistration is required.
