iPRES is an international gathering that, according to the conference Web site, “bring(s) together researchers and practitioners from around the world to explore the latest trends, innovations, and practices in preserving our scientific and cultural digital heritage.” This year the conference is hosted by the California Digital Library and will be held at the Mission Bay Conference Center on October 5 and 6.

Immediately following the conference, Leggett and McFarland will attend the Sun Preservation and Archiving Special Interest Group meeting, a Sun-sponsored gathering of experts and commercial solution providers focused on issues like data storage, preservation, and curation. The PASIG meeting will also take place in San Francisco.
