The Texas Digital Library is pleased to sponsor the formation of a Texas Archivematica Users Group for those institutions exploring or actively using Archivematica, an open source suite of tools for processing digital objects for long-term preservation.

Background and Purpose
The idea for a Texas Archivematica Users Group emerged from an Archivematica Birds of a Feather session at the 2016 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries hosted by Sara Allain of Artefactual Systems, Inc. and Drew Krewer of the University of Houston. Currently, a significant number of institutions are exploring or using Archivematica within Texas, and the discussion at TCDL 2016 resulted in a consensus that a users group would be a beneficial way to share experiences, workflows, use cases, and more — both online and in person.
The Texas Archivematica Users Group, which is in its initial stages of formation, now has a dedicated online discussion list for communication and planning, and sees the UK Archivematica Users Group as a strong model for organizing Texas Archivematica users.
Who Should Join
- The group is open to individuals and organizations in Texas who are actively using, exploring, or testing Archivematica. (Membership in the Texas Digital Library is not required to join.)
- It is also open to those within other user communities that are interested in furthering or promoting the work of the Texas Archivematica Users Group.
- The group welcomes members from a variety of backgrounds and job roles — librarians, archivists, IT staff, etc.
