(Carefully) cozy up to your favorite cactus and check out all of the ways you can help TDL fulfill our holiday wishes.
Grow Your Career
TDL will offer lots of professional development in the coming year. Take a few minutes to plant seeds for furthering your career with these opportunities:
- Submit a proposal to the Texas Conference on Digital Libraries. TCDL’s theme this year, 2020 Hindsight: Looking Back, Moving Forward, presents an opportunity to pause and reflect on lessons learned from past projects and initiatives, and envision fresh possibilities for the future. We encourage presenters to consider sharing past successes as well as failures that led to unexpected solutions or advice that might benefit the community.
- Register for TCDL. Our annual conference is a unique occasion: it’s the only conference just for digital libraries in Texas. Registration discounts are offered for TDL members and students.
- Get ready to grow your leadership skills at the TDL Leadership Academy, facilitated by Breaking Library Silos and The Maintainers. Learn how to lead at all levels of the library and join a cohort of learners who seek a professional community for growth.
Cultivate a Community of Practice
The best thing about being a member of Texas Digital Library is that we have a ready-made group of like-minded professionals working toward the same goals. Over the winter break, take a moment to give back by contributing to these initiatives:
- Recognize the leaders in your community and nominate someone for a TDL Award. The nomination process is easy and winners are announced at the annual Texas Conference on Digital Libraries.
- Share your open educational resources materials, questions, and outreach efforts with the Texas OER Community for Higher Education Google Group. Just go to https://groups.google.com/d/forum/texas-oer-community-he and click “Apply to join.”
- Join TDL’s DSpace User Community or another TDL member group and sign up for the TDL Community Google Group to collaborate with your fellow TDL members by learning and resource-sharing.
Branch Out
Connect with fellow librarians, archivists, and other digital library professionals in our consortium of academic libraries by joining our online communities.
We are texasdigitallibrary on Facebook and TXDigLibrary on Twitter. We even have a public list of all TDL members on Twitter so you can start following your fellow TDL members. Also, be sure to sign up for our bi-monthly e-newsletter so you can stay up-to-date.
From all of us to all of you, TDL wishes everyone a wonderful winter break. See you in 2020!
