Call for Committee Members
We are recruiting members for the TCDL 2027 Planning Committee. We welcome professionals from all TDL regular and affiliate member institutions, including previous committee members, emerging professionals, and individuals from underrepresented roles. No prior conference planning experience is required; we welcome new voices and provide full onboarding support.
We are looking for individuals representing a diverse range of perspectives across our community, including those with interests or experience in:
- Content & Curation: Digital preservation, archives, metadata, repositories, and scholarly communications.
- Technology & Innovation: Software development, systems administration, data management, and emerging tools.
- Community & Care: Outreach, user experience, open education, accessibility, and student services.
- In-Person Event Experience: On-site logistics, networking activities, and community building.
- General Planning & Collaboration: Anyone who simply wants to be a part of the planning process, lend a hand, and help shape an amazing conference experience!
What Planning Committee Members Do
All members serve on the full committee and participate in at least one dedicated subcommittee. General responsibilities include:
- Strategic Planning: Choose the conference theme, draft the call for proposals, nominate the keynote speaker, and review session abstracts.
- Conference Execution: Moderate sessions and provide support during the event.
- Regular Engagement: Attend scheduled full committee and subcommittee meetings (virtual).
- Reporting: Assist with the post-conference wrap-up report.
Dedicated Subcommittees
Please indicate your preferences on the application form:
- Short Papers Subcommittee (New): Manage the submission, review, and publication structure for the newly introduced short paper format.
- Posters Subcommittee: Coordinate the poster session and reception activities. This includes managing submissions, reviewing abstracts, communicating with presenters, and organizing the scavenger hunt.
- Awards Subcommittee: Oversee the annual TDL Awards and student scholarships. Duties include managing nomination criteria, reviewing submissions, selecting winners, planning the awards ceremony, and administering student scholarships.
- Participant Experience Subcommittee: Focuses on volunteer scheduling, local attendee resources, and organizing social/networking activities. (Note: This committee does not handle physical swag).
Commitment & Expectations
- Time: Approximately 5-10 hours per month, varying by subcommittee and planning phase.
- Term: September 2026 – September 2027
- Note: The project management timeline and committee handbook are currently being finalized and will be provided to all selected members during onboarding.
